A Return To Form (FRONTIER #1)
-----------------------------------------
[Three months is a very long time to be away from professional wrestling. As soon as you are out of the public eye, you tend to be forgotten. That wasn't the case with Maximum Violence. Ever since his return to wrestling last year, his name has always been in the conversation when it came to wrestling. Numerous websites and magazines have tried to get a hold of Max through is agent and friend, Brandon Barajas, but was met with complete silence. Finally, the world got their answer to Max's future. In a shocking turn of events, he declined to renew his contract with the MWA and chose to display his talents for violence in a much smaller venue, FRONTIER. Some wonder why he took the cut in pay and less exposure instead of returning to the place that put him back on the map. The answer was simple: Competition. Some view it as coming full circle in his career. After turning 40 a few weeks ago, there are some that think Max wants to finish his career the way it began by doing what he does best in front of the smaller, but more hardcore, wrestling fan base.]
[The winds are calm and the moon is shining brightly over Portales, New Mexico. After a long day of dealing with press and conference calls, Brandon "B2" Barajas begins his long drive home from his office downtown. Ever since news broke of Max's jump to FRONTIER, B2 has been the one fielding the questions and taking care of all the press. No one knew of Max's whereabouts or if the knee injury he sustained in MWA meant retirement for the veteran, but Barajas knew all along. It wasn't a matter of "if", but rather "when". Max sold his home in Albuquerque and has been staying with him since early August. On his way home, he stops by the local watering hole and picks up a bottle of Johnny WalkerB Blue Label. Finally, he makes he way down the drive and notices Max outside of The Shop, a tin building where all of Max's training takes place. Max is pulling an engine block up with the help of chain pulley.]
B2: That seems a little extreme..
[Barajas pulls his vehicle up by the side of the building and exits his car.]
B2: Max! What the hell are you doing?
[Max begins to ease the engine down.]
Max: Don't worry about what I'm doing. I have to make sure that this knee is 100%.
B2: That's quite a bit of strain. You sure you aren't overdoing it?
[As the engine touches the ground, Max walks up to B2. His head is steaming from the exertion in the cold weather.]
Max: I've rehabbed more injuries than you have taken a fat woman in the sack.
[Max snatches the bottle out of B2's hand.]
Max: Blue label...I'm guessing everything went well today?
[Barajas smiles.]
B2: Everything is set. Your first match back is going to be against A.J. Fairchild of FGA.
[A quizzical look comes over Max's face.]
Max: Never heard of him.
B2: Well there is good reason for that. He isn't on the FRONTIER roster.
[B2 takes the bottle out of Max's hand and proceeds to grab two Solo cups out of The Shop. He continues as he pours a drink for the both of them.]
B2: Things are a bit different in FRONTIER Max. They tend to do shows with other organizations. That means more exposure and a bigger audience for you to showcase your talents.]
[Barajas hands Max a cup. Max takes it, but still looks confused.]
Max: You know I'm not coming back because I want to help FRONTIER. I'm coming back because I want to be champion.
B2: All good things to those who wait Max.
Max: I've been waiting eight years Barajas. Ever since I came back a year ago, I have busted my ass to prove that I still had it, and I did just that. And even after everything I've done, I've still been forced to jump through hoops and prove myself.
[Max drains his cup in one and drops the cup on the ground.]
Max: I'm not going to be ignored anymore. That's why I'm here Barajas. I'm not here to battle for the good name of FRONTIER. I'm here to show that I am the most violent and unstoppable force professional wrestling has ever seen.
[Barajas takes a sip of his drink and sighs.]
B2: You are going to get your shot Max. But this is new territory for us. We have to tread a bit lighter than we have in the past.
Max: Have you ever known me to tread lightly for anything?
[He grins as he turns his attention back to the engine block for one more pull.]
Max: Tell me about this A.J. Fairchild.
B2: He's a young gun. He actually just came off a pretty big win in FGA...won the New Frontiers Cup. Got a trophy and everything.
Max: Wow, a trophy! Bet it is about as impressive as the soccer trophy I won when I was five.
[B2 laughs at this, but returns to his serious tone.]
B2: I wouldn't be so quick to judge. He won multiple matches in one night Max. Young punk or not, it's an impressive feat.
{As the engine block reaches the top, he lets go of the pulley, sending the engine crashing to the ground.]
Max: Is that doubt I hear in your voice?
B2: Of course not. I've just never known you to not take a competitor seriously.
Max: You think my confidence comes off as cocky? You've been around me more than anyone and you KNOW what I am capable of. A.J. Fairchild may have won his little tournament, but he is going to have to do a lot more than that for him to even become a blip on my radar. While hie was running away from girls on the playground, I was destroying some of the best wrestlers on the planet in Japan. When his wrestling career was nothing more than a foolish dream, I was busy putting legends on the shelf for good!
[Max slowly walks up to B2. As he gets nose to nose with his friend, his expression turns from lethally serious to a smile.]
Max: It's going to take more than a young upstart like A.J. Fairchild to derail The Campain. I didn't come back to lose, B2. I came back to destroy everyone that is set in my path and get that championship gold I have long deserved.
[There is a moment of silence between the two. Finally, Max walks past B2 and heads for the house.]
Max: Get the travel arrangements ready. We're flying out in the morning.
B2: You got it Max...you got it.
[Max continues to walk towards the house as B2 mutters under his breath..]
B2: I hope your game is still as big as you think it is old man..
{Scene fades}
